A FULL MONTH DEVOTED TO SELF-TAPE TECHNIQUE  

 

 

TUESDAYS:

FOUR WEEKS...September 8, 15, 22, 29

TIME: 5pm to 9pm

GET YOUR SELF TAPING ELECTRIC - AND YOUR ACTING TO STAND OUT...and get REAL TIME FEEDBACK and response to your work from a director/producer 

 

 

CLASS DESCRIPTION:

 

An open class format in front of camera designed to HONE the SELF TAPE SKILLS...and push actors to deliver SUCCESSFUL AUDITIONS under time constraints.

 

Throughout the month,  actors need to work FASTER under MORE PRESSURE...

 

CHECK THIS OUT:

 

WEEK ONE: Review and discussion on successful self-taping with Matthew and Michael. THEN actors present short auditions sent in advance...receiving feedback and notes on acting and creative self taping with Matthew and Michael. Actors practice making adjustments and taking notes.

 

WEEK TWO: Actors receive "large" auditions in advance. They spend the class working the self tape and coaching with Matthew to prepare the best audition. 

 

WEEK THREE: Class watches each self tape made in week two with Michael and receive instant feedback...then need to make immediate adjustments and play with the director to create the best self tape possible. 

 

WEEK FOUR: Actors receive NEW SCENES...and present the audition to Michael and Matthew WITHOUT coaching - and make adjustments - with only two takes.

 

Three SCENES IN ONE MONTH...

 

 

ALSO: 

 

We study recent tapes from clients who have booked...break down recent sides...and each week put the actors in front of camera - learning how to make effective self tapes.

 

LEARN:

 

- framing, blocking, camera movement, lighting, sound and all physical aspects
- working with single or multiple readers and how to engage the camera
- creating an event, an arc, and the change in character from top to end
- making clear and effective choices while staying within script's bounds
- timing, tempo, dialogue, rhythm, expression and compression
- emotion and character

 

PLUS:

 

- how to receive feedback and adjust to notes in real time

Cancellations will be accepted only up to 7 days prior to the start of the class.  Cancellations must be notified in writing within this time frame.  There is a $50 processing fee on each cancellation.  Cancellations that are made after 7 days before the start of the class are non refundable.

I hereby voluntarily and knowingly, release and discharge AF, its employees, agents, affiliates, directors, officers, insurers and assigns of and from all manner of claims, actions, losses, liability, costs, damages and lawsuits of any kind that I now have or may have in the future by reason of any matter, cause or thing related to or arising from my participation in the class/workshop/seminar.

Photography/Recording Release

I hereby authorize, consent and grant permission to AF and all of its employees, sub-contractors, affiliates, and agents to photograph, document, film, videotape and record my performance and/or participation in the class/workshop/seminar. I hereby grant to AF, and those acting with its authority and permission, the absolute right and permission to copyright and use, reuse, publish and republish photographic portraits, pictures, videos and/or sound recordings, or any part thereof, that may have been taken or made of me and I acknowledge that such material shall be the property of AF.

I waive my right to any and all royalties or other compensation arising or related to the use of such material.

I have carefully read and considered this information and release and fully understand its contents. I am aware that I am releasing certain rights I may otherwise have and enter into this Release in consideration of being permitted to participate in the class/workshop/seminar.
